Our Story

Not long after I became a hospital labor & delivery nurse, I realized that the view of women’s pregnancy had been transformed from something normal, natural, beautiful, spiritual and transformational to something abnormal, harmful, scary, an illness that needed medical intervention hence the body needed to be forced into labor, the baby had to come out.  Not all, but a great majority of women were being induced for unwarranted reasons.  Oftentimes they were anxious and feared for the lives of their babies.  I saw a lot of issues coming up due to our medicalized interventions.

We meddled so much, interrupting normal physiology adding one intervention after another.  Oftentimes, these interventions led to the same outcome, the announcement  hours or sometimes days later, to an exhausted, nutrition depleted mother, that it was time to extract the baby by cesarean section.  And after the major abdominal surgery, most of the time those babies came out perfectly healthy.  I listened to moms and learned that oftentimes they had wanted traditional spontaneous labor but were coerced through risk talk into getting  induced.  I began advocating for what they wanted and my suggestions made plenty of enemies but also empowered women into educating themselves on their pregnancy and their other options.

That’s what I am here to do for you.  I am going to go through this journey with you, I am going to watch out for your health and that of your baby and depending on your individual situation, we are going to explore options and together and work towards achieving the best outcome for you, for your baby and for your family.

Aviles emphasizes the U.S.'s high infant and maternal mortality rates, partly attributed to fast-paced, profit-driven, and reactive versus proactive prenatal care. She highlights the contrast between the guidance midwives provide, aiming to keep women healthy and low risk for home birth, and the reactive approach of obstetricians who too often categorize pregnancy as a risky medical condition requiring medical management and intervention.

An expert resource to midwives, and the families we care for: Dr. Lozovyy is a board-certified OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal medicine specialist at High Risk Pregnancy Doctors in Frisco, TX. She understands that clients seeking midwifery care are a unique population seeking a unique type of care. She is happy to collaborate with midwives because she knows that low risk pregnancies can be safely managed in an out of hospital environment under the care of professionally trained midwives and she believes in minimizing barriers and increasing patient access to safe options. The best of both worlds… Having this beneficial mutual relationship where we can openly consult, collaborate and refer to a high risk expert brings great value to families that receive the best of both worlds care. Low intervention, with an all eyes on you approach and the reassurance that comes knowing that you are working with non-competing professionals that have your best interest in mind.
In the event that at some point, conditions in your prenatal course cause you to risk out of an out of hospital birth, she is a hands-on specialist that delivers very high risk patients that fall beyond the scope of practice of a typical OB-GYN.
