Service Description

I like to think of prenatal care as what those that love you and support you give you and what you give yourself. What you eat, drink, how much you rest, relax, smile, laugh, exercise and are able to enjoy the time this little life is growing within you while avoiding environmental toxins and stressors. During each visit we’ll get to talk about those things and about managing the little inconveniences in pregnancy and I will have time to answer any questions you have. All recommended lab tests, procedures, referrals, consultations to physicians if indicated will be discussed in full. Aside from the more extensive first visit, each visit includes a mini clinical exam which includes weight, blood pressure, pulse, abdominal exam and a quick listen of your baby’s heart tones. Visits are usually every four weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks and weekly after 36 weeks until birth. Postpartum visit is scheduled at 24-48 hours from birth, two weeks and six weeks. We also recommend a 3 month well woman visit. Newborn care for the first two weeks includes physical exams at birth, the first few days, and 2 weeks as needed. We monitor weight gain, evaluate jaundice, complete newborn screenings, and provide lactation assistance.
